Vacaville City Limits: Hosted By Ron George
Each week we will check out what's going on in and
In this one hour weekly stroll through the Entertainment lineup, from headliners
to up-and-commers, we will be spending time with singers, dancers, actors,
comedians and just about anyone who brings their stories and their talent to
our show. It's all about the story behind the story.
In November 1960 on a rainy Saturday night, a very young Ron
George attended a concert at the Dream Bowl in Napa California, that
night would forever change his life's direction. The Dream Bowl was a
huge quonset hut style building, with a dirt parking lot and a upstairs
balcony for kids, keeping them separated from the Honky Tonk below.
At that time It was the largest Country Music dance hall in California
and was the stomping grounds for both Country & Rockabilly Music
On any given Saturday night you might see Johnny Cash, Buck
Owens, George Jones, Merle Haggard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Loretta Lynn,
Porter Wagoner, Rose Maddox with the Maddox Brothers, The Everly
Brothers, Fats Damino and always Black Jack Wayne broadcasting
his live Television Show. All on the same bill.
For the kids it was nothing short of magic, the best view in the house.
From the the balcony you could look straight down at the stage that
was no more than 20 feet away. Singing at the top of your lungs and
dreaming that someday you too might be on that stage. And if that
wasn't cool enough, during intermission the kids were allowed
downstairs to meet the entertainers, who were always willing to share
their stories and give encouragement and advice on how to break into
For over twenty years Ron entertained audiences throughout the
Nevada Music Circuit, traveling between Reno, Lake Tahoe and Las
Vegas. After years of traveling and keeping up with a grueling
schedule, he decided to retire from the circuit in 1995. Ron and his
wife Sharron wanted to spend more time with their new grand baby's
Zach, Megan and a few years later Aaron.
Not one to just sit idle, Ron started his own Entertainment Agency
"Todd Productions" and for the next twenty years produced
Concerts and events throughout Northern California.
As you can see it's pretty busy around here, we are excited about our
new productions and what the future has to offer.
Thanks for hanging out with us today and I hope you enjoy browsing
our web sites. We look forward to seeing you at one of our Shows.
|For Ron, that night started a journey
That would continue to this day
